Castelli
After a brief but promising cycling career, Maurizio Castelli created his eponymous brand in 1974 and a series of firsts would follow: the first Lycra shorts used in racing and sold to the public, the first colored shorts, the first sublimation printed jerseys, the first synthetic winter clothing, the first use of windproof membranes, the first hydrophilic fabric treatments, the first anatomic seatpad, the lightest jersey ever produced and the most aerodynamic jersey ever produced. His vision was to be at the forefront of technology, performance and design. Maurizio Castelli died in 1995 while cycling up the Cipressa climb, the next-to-last hill in the Milano-San Remo course. Today, Castelli is dedicated to continuing Maurizio’s dream: to create the most innovative clothing for the cyclist seeking maximum performance.
ELITE
Elite was founded in the long shadow of Monte Grappa by Amerigo Sartore in the late 70s. Many of the successes that have made Elite a brand leader in bottle cages and resistance trainers are thanks to their ongoing commitment to electronic and mechanical research. They collaborate with architects, designers and mechanical engineers to prepare cutting edge technological solutions without ever forgoing what makes Italian firms stand out: design. Along with functionality and practicality, an Elite product must above all have “fit”, and thus the creation of an Elite product is always focused on its design.
Garmin
The world leader in navigation devices, Garmin is providing Edge 800s for every Cervélo Pro Travel Experience trip. The Edge 800 was developed for cyclists who want performance training and navigation at their fingertips. It tracks speed, distance, elevation and more, plus features touchscreen color display, sleek design and mapping on unit. Founded in 1989, Garmin started sponsorship of its pro cycling team in 2008, which was renamed Garmin-Cervélo for the 2011 season with the arrival of co-sponsor Cervélo Cycles. Everyone is chuffed about the 2012 team and expect them to build on the success of last year.
ParkTool
Park Tool has been manufacturing bicycle specific tools since 1963. Based out of St. Paul Minnesota, they are the world’s largest bicycle tool manufacturer. A long-term dedication to quality, innovation, and customer service has made Park Tool the first choice of professional and home bicycle mechanics around the world.
3T Cycling
3T was originally called Tecnologia del Tubo Torinese, taking its name from the city of Turin, where it was founded in 1961 by Mario Dedioniggi. The grandiose name eventually became 3TTT and Dedioniggi began experimenting with new shapes and new alloys, which attracted an élite clientele of Italian racers. He also diversified the product line (ski poles and leather bicycle saddles) but it was handlebars that made 3TTT famous with their simple but brilliant design. At the height of his fame, Dedioniggi quit and sold the company but his successors continued to produce simple, elegant bars, stems and seat pillars crafted from the lightest alloys. A half-century later, the tradition lives on.
